“To wash another’s feet is to bow in humility, to serve without reservation, and to embrace the sacredness of every step taken in love.”

As I sit back, drinking coffee and hearing little voices giggle while walking down the school hallway, I reflect on the Super Bowl and the recent ads under the hashtag #HeGetsUs; I find myself overwhelmed with emotion toward whatever Christians took the initiative to put forth these ads. These advertisements beautifully encapsulate the essence of the God I know, the God I serve, and the One who walks with me through every moment of my life.

In a world where misconceptions and misrepresentations of Christianity abound, these ads serve as a refreshing reminder of the true nature of our faith. They portray a God of love, compassion, and understanding — a God who meets us exactly where we are in all our joys and struggles. In the places we understand and the corners of our lives where we are ashamed even to show our faces. What resonates most deeply with me is the authenticity of these portrayals. They capture the human experience in all its complexities, showing that God is not distant or aloof but intimately involved in every aspect of our lives. Whether celebrating victories or grappling with doubts, God is there, ready to walk alongside us with unwavering support and guidance.

As a Christian, I strive to reflect the qualities of the God I believe in — one Sovereign King who embraces diversity, values empathy, and extends grace to all. Does he judge and hold us accountable? Yes, but does he call us to be the judge? NO. He says, “They will know we are Christian by our love.” (John 13:35). I agree; Jesus didn’t teach hate; he washed feet, and to wash another’s feet is to bow in humility, to serve without reservation, and to embrace the sacredness of every step taken in love.

In a society characterized by division and discord, #HeGetsUs serves as a beacon of unity and understanding. It reminds us that, despite our differences, we are all beloved children of God, deserving of compassion and respect. These ads inspire me to be a better ambassador for Christ, to embody His love in my interactions with others, and to share His message of hope with the world.

I am standing taller today in Christ after seeing these ads. They reinforce my faith, strengthen my resolve, and fill me with hope for a brighter, more inclusive future for my children. May we all strive to live out Christ’s values, spreading love and light wherever we go.
